Play House is a villa near Tehran and it was designed by Ravagh Atelier. We used solid beech on the second floor, the bedrooms and the area connecting these with the TV room. We opted for planks with a 12 cm width and random length; and we also used oil finishing. The custom made colouring has a natural wood feel to it. It looks rustic yet it is very easy to maintain.
A key challenge of this project was the glass roof for large parts of the house which allowed the sun to penetrate and cause heat which could in effect manipulate the colouring. Also, under-floor heating used in this project could potentially cause the same issue. However our use of special oil and top-coating overcame these challenges and resulted in a solution that is both beautiful and practical.
